The club scene fuses with Contra this week! We’re excited to introduce Tryptech, the dynamic trio of Cat, Zak and Jilli bringing Techno Contra to the Rose Room.

🎶 Lively Fiddling and Picking – The driving tunes of Catherine Sloboda will have you twirling across the dance floor.

🎶 Exciting Harmonies – Jilli Walch anchors the sound on keyboard.

🎶 Pounding Rhythms – Drummer and synth specialist Zak Spath brings an awesome beat to the house.

All Dances Taught – DC based caller, Penelope Weinberger has years of experience calling contras for all kinds of musical styles, including Club Contra. We’ll be in good hands as Cat, Zak and Jilli explore new soundscapes for contra.

Experience the magic of contra dancing, where all are welcome, and no partner or experience is necessary. Bring your friends, family, and fellow dance enthusiasts for a night of lively music, connection, and community.

• Cindy, Emily and Rachel bring the new flourishes they learned at Pinewoods at 6:00 pm;
• Introduction to contra dance at 7:00;
• Contra 7:30 – 10:00 pm.

We have a sliding scale admission policy, with a target of $15. Pay more if you can, less if you can’t – come dance!

Penelope Weinberger

Penelope has been calling and organizing dances for over 20 years and is welcomed around the country. Hailing from the DC area, she has called all kinds of scenes, from traditional to techno. Working with dJ improper, he has organized the occasional Contra Sonic dances at Glen Echo.
