Cecilia Vacanti (fiddle), Jeff Kaufman (piano, drums, mandolin, etc)

Kingfisher is an electrifying Boston-based contra dance band, consisting of Cecilia Vacanti (fiddle) and Jeff Kaufman (piano, synths, mandolin, feet).  They play all around New England and the East coast.  They recorded their debut album live over a span of a year in dance halls across the Northeast.

Cecilia plays a wide range of fiddle styles for dances and has a strong foundation in pop, rock and jazz, as well as in improvisation and tune-writing. Cecilia’s distinctive sound and imaginative improvisation keeps her in demand in the singer-songwriter scene and a sought-after collaborator for folk dances all over the Northeast. She was a founding member of indie-folk group Old Tom & the Lookouts, and she currently plays in the electrifying Boston-based contra dance band Kingfisher. She has shared stages with Lucius, I’m With Her, Aoife O’Donovan, Jessye DeSilva, Adeem The Artist, The 8-Bit Big Band and Frank Turner.
