Tom Bannister

We have just been informed by his son, Horatio, that Dr. Tom Bannister passed away Monday, January 15, 2018.  Plans are being made for a memorial service at the University of Rochester Interfaith Chapel in late June.

Tom was a passionate supporter of traditional country dancing since the founding of the Country Dancers of Rochester in 1976. He was always friendly and encouraging to new dancers, had a strong swing, and a deep interest in the history of the dance. He maintained a continuing interest in CDR, attending organizing meetings and providing welcome perspective on our considerations. In addition to regular participation in regular weekly dances, he was a member of the Wakefield Dancers, a performance troop.

Tom passed away at Highland Hospital from pneumonia. He died just after 4PM on the 15th with family by his side, holding hands, peacefully. He loved and was very loved.
