It is a 5th Thursday, and that means it’s Open Band Night. Whenever there are five Thursdays in a calendar month, we welcome all comers to play four our dance. Anchored by a couple of solid, experienced dance musicians, everybody has a great time.
Casey Carr from Ithaca will be calling, and that means we’ll probably get to enjoy a Grid Square!

Acclaimed caller/teacher Casey Carr is skilled at making new dancers of all ages feel comfortable while keeping experienced dancers on their toes. She has a collection of fascinating grid squares that she pulls out for larger events.

Eric Rounds, fiddle, leader, Mark Henry, piano
Founded by Eric Rounds, open band nights in Rochester are now led by Daphne Pickens and Jane Knoeck. Like Eric, Jane has been an enthusiastic member of the Rochester traditional music community for many years. Daphne has grown up in the tradition and is on the faculty at the Kanack School of Music. We continue to use Eric’s original, great repertoire. Printed music is available at the dance, and you can pick up a copy online.
