Details
The third weekend in October is usually the date for the Syracuse Country Dancers to hold their annual Phylla Mae Fall Festival (PMFF), a weekend of contra and English country dancing that attracts dancers from the northeastern US and southeastern Canada. We can’t meet in person this year, but SCD has a few portions of the weekend online, including this virtual ECD.
Virtual doors open at 6:50, dancing 7-8, and we’ll keep the link open for greetings at the end.
Carmen will call favorite English Country Dances adapted for dancing for one or two, accompanied by recorded music. It’s not dancing together in the same place, but it is a way to keep connected to dancing and our dance friends.
Here is a list of dances adapted and recordings used at the last SCD virtual ECD, Oct. 11. Choreographers of the original dances, if recent, are given in parentheses:
-Helena (Colin Hume) Bare Necessities, Modern Treasures
-Dublin Bay Bare Necessities, More Favorites of the Boston
-Michael and All Angels (Fried de Metz Herman Bare Necessities, Modern Treasures
-Easter Morn (Erna-Lynne Bogue) Bare Necessities, Favorites of the Boston Centre
-Sapphire Sea (Christine Robb) Dancehall Players, An Evening at Dan’s Hall
-Dear Papa and Dear Mama (Pat Shaw) Bare Necessities, A New English Ball
