This is a 2nd Thursday – masks are optional at this dance.

Woody & Marcia McKenzie are coming by from Virginia packing Expect a fine mix of traditional music of southern Appalachia and the British Isles.

Mary Collins will teach the dances.

We offer a beginners tutorial before the dance at 7:00 or so. Admission fees are sliding scale with a suggested price of $10.

Mary Collins loves to dance, loves to call, and is a dedicated organizer of contra dances in Buffalo.  We’re always happy to have her call (and dance) in Rochester.

Woody McKenzie (fiddle), Marcia McKenzie (guitar, banjo, etc)

Woody and Marcia McKenzie have been making music together since they were married in 1983. Residents of Virginia since 1985, they have entertained audiences throughout the U.S. and in Canada, Denmark and Belize with their unique blend of contemporary and original folk, traditional music of southern Appalachia and the British Isles, funny songs, and even some swing and jazz standards. They accompany their strong individual and duet vocals with a variety of instruments and encourage their audiences to sing along and make a joyful noise! In addition to giving concerts, they play for for dances, and Marcia enjoys calling beginner dances for parties and other events. When not playing music, Woody spends time building instruments.
