Conviviality (noun): the quality of being friendly and making people feel happy and welcome

The Gaye Fifer/Stomp Rocket weekend is going to be a little bit different from your usual dance weekend. We’ll have one band, one caller, we’ll take long breaks between sessions. We’ll have a game room and we’ll have English and contra equally.

“Conviviality” will be the theme of the weekend. Let’s all make each other feel happy and welcome! Meals will not be provided, except for bagels on Sunday morning, so ask your fellow dancers to join you to get take-out at one of the many local restaurants to bring back to the game room or to join you on a picnic at Webster Park along Lake Ontario. It’s a 15 minute ride due north! There are two refrigerators available to store food, so feel free to bring your own meals.

On Friday, we’ll have an awesome evening contra dance. On Sunday, we’ll have a lovely English country dance. And on Saturday we’ll all do both (and waltz!).

Hopefully, everyone will have the thing they love best, learn how to help new dancers, learn a little of a different dance, waltz, play games, build community and have fun. We wanted to have Gaye Fifer come again as a gift for our community and we hope that all of CDR and our friends in other communities, near and far, will enjoy this summer weekend that we deserve so much!
