Tom Bannister was a delightful participant in all the forms of community dance sponsored by CDR, learned in our traditions, and passionate in his support for CDR from its founding. We hold his memory close to our hearts. As he was also devoted to Highland Park and the Lamberton Conservatory, the family requested donations in support of the park. At its last meeting, the CDR Board agreed enthusiastically to ask dancers for contributions towards planting a new tree in Highland Park in his memory. It is to be selected from a native species with the advise and consent of the Parks horticultural staff, and at a time determined by them for the most successful establishment of the tree. CDR will match all donations, up to $200, with any excess donated to the Parks Department. We plan to complete the drive in time to announce the final result at CDR’s annual meeting in September.
